[VIDEO] Stories from the Municipality of Yabucoa

In September of 2017, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Dominica experienced their deadliest and most devastating natural disaster to date: Hurricane Maria. In the aftermath of the storm, and with the looming threat of ever-more violent climactic events, many grassroots recovery efforts emerged, including ResilientSEE Puerto Rico and Resilient Power Puerto Rico. On view at the National Museum of Puerto Rican Arts and Culture as part of the Chicago Architecture Biennial, “Rebuilding with Resilience” tells the stories of how and why each participating organization was founded, and the various ways in which they’re making a measurable difference. The exhibition includes this video, narrated by Yanel de Angel, co-founder of ResilientSEE and principal at our Perkins and Will, about the communities they are working with to build a more resilient Puerto Rico.
